Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy sessions are a problem-focused and goal orientated form of therapy, with a combination of talking therapy. It includes counselling, assessing and rationalising of cognitions and behaviours. A session consists of discussing and assessing issues, followed by learning techniques to overcome the isssues and learning how to manage emotions and behaviours. Tools and techniques are given to clients to work on and implement in between sessions. All sessions are interactive, collaborative and client focused.

  • Online sessions are live in real time, sessions are conducted via zoom. A zoom link is sent to you before the session for you to join with video and audio.

  • Yes I do offer in person sessions at my clinic in Harley Street, London, UK.

  • CBT has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of different mental health conditions (but not limited to):

    • Anxiety

    • Depression

    • PTSD and trauma

    • Phobias

    • OCD

    • Eating disorders

  • My working hours are 9.00 -5.00. I do not work evenings, weekends, or bank holidays.

  • This is different for everyone. While many of my client’s report positive changes in just a few sessions, and CBT can can be between 8-12 sessions, some clients work with me for 4-6 months or more, as we strengthen their coping techniques. We also explore and process the underlying causes and address new areas for growth that may arise.

    This is something that you and I will discuss openly as we begin therapy and regularly check in on throughout our work together.

  • Counselling is considered to be short-term work, focusing on particular problems such as addictions and bereavement. Psychotherapy on the other hand encourages a deeper and more fundamental process of change in clients. However, psychotherapy also looks at short-term goals and can focus on particular problems.

  • Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) is a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), that aims to help a person rationalise and challenge unhelpful thoughts, and to manage their negative emotions and behaviours.

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It’s most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.

  • No I do not. However you are provided with an invoice and receipt of all payment.

  • No I do not, I provide for adults aged 18 years and above.

  • Yes! Not only is therapy and counselling allowed in Islam, but it’s also encouraged. We should seek help and guidance from those qualified in doing so – especially during our lowest times. It can help gain a better understanding of our issues and problems, and how to deal with different situations in a way that is beneficial for us, both Islamically and otherwise.
